Mongolia - at the edge of frozen Hūhénuòěr lake ̶ AoBao - Aobaoes are sacrificial altars of the shape of a mound that are traditionally used for worship in the indigenous religion of Mongols and related ethnic groups. Every aobao is thought as the representation of a god. There are aobaoes dedicated to heavenly gods, mountain gods, other gods of nature, and also to gods of human lineages and agglomerations. Mongolia - Aoluguya forrest ̶ We drove about 15 miles on a snow covered closed dirt road into the Aoluguya forests to find some Yakuts living in tents. Yakuts are a minority in China of traditional Reindeer ( Caribou ) headers with roots from Russia. The total population of Yakut's in China is 237 and, like me, they do not seem to qualify to be members of the official government list of 56 minorities which make up the diverse population of China.

Mongolia - LěngJíCūn ̶ LěngJíCūn translates to "Extremely Cold Town" and it is the name of the town. The name is deserved as it is the location of the coldest day on record in China with a temperature of -58⁰C. Locals say it gets colder than that here. The nice thing is that the coal stove exhaust circulates under the beds to keep them really warm.
