This year China installed a train system around the country with the aim of providing an attractive alternative to both air travel and driving. I would say it is successful on both accounts. The trains travel at 310 km/hr. Spending a few dollars and 1.5 hours gets us across what was an hour flight, an eight hour train ride, or an unthinkable drive.

GuangDong Grand Canyon has many rivers and waterfalls and treacherous trails down and up 900 foot canyon walls, making for some really good walking.

Provincial road 258 was opened, then washed out in several places and closed, then open, then we passed, then washed out and closed, then we waited hours on our way home, then open for a few moments and we went home, then it was closed after the opening got washed out again...
